3 Rock and Roll Songs that Get You Pumped Up

Faint by Linkin Park. Easy. Absolute banger. The moment that opening riff hits it's like an electric shock straight to your soul. And then Chester Bennington comes in with that feral energy. Dude doesn't just sing he unleashes a primal scream straight from the depths of his soul. By the time the beat drops and Mike Shinoda starts rapping you're either ready to run through a brick wall or shadowbox in a public space.

It's powerful because it's relentless. No slow build no chill just pure unfiltered rage and passion. Whether you need a pump-up anthem for the gym a soundtrack for speed walking through the grocery store like you're on a mission or just a way to channel your inner angsty warrior Faint never misses.

For rock and roll, it's hard to beat Johnny B. Goode. The opening riff is just electric. It has this punchy, driving quality that comes from its underlying syncopation. That's the hemiola pattern at work - groups of three notes pushing against the beat, never sitting still. And when it comes on, it can be hard to sit still! Chuck Berry didn't just create a hit - he distilled the essence of rock and roll into a single song. Every time that riff kicks in, it's a surge of energy and possibility, a reminder that a great groove and a great story can leave a lasting mark.

Without a doubt the rock and roll song that gets me fired up is Thunderstruck by AC/DC! That song is by far my favorite, it's a classic in every sense of the word. I love listening to it when I'm working out, I love it to be the intro song when I do keynote speaking jobs, I love listening to it when I'm driving in my car, it's just one of those songs that never ever gets old and withstands the test of time! In my opinion, if you wanna get fired up and ready to rock 'n' roll, listen to Thunderstruck by AC/DC!
